What NIRSA Students need to succeed
Unique Educational Programming for Student Attendees
Discover the Student Track on Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25 designed exclusively for student participants! Based on participant feedback, the Student Track will now take place over a two-day period for an even more engaging experience.
NIRSA’s Student Leadership Team will kick off the Student Track with their session entitled “Prepare to Be a #NIRSAFuture Leader!” which will focus on practical skills such as staff management and burnout prevention that are useful to students preparing to enter the professional workforce.
J. Michael Dunn Student Learning Cohort
In addition to the Student Track, NIRSA also offers a unique opportunity for graduate assistants interested in building networks and knowledge related to pursuing a career in collegiate recreation. This free two-hour workshop is named in honor of J. Michael Dunn, a former NIRSA President and a passionate advocate for student development in campus recreation.
Please note that there are maximum capacities for this event, and priority will be given to graduate students.
Take a Student to Lunch
This cherished tradition, which pairs student participants with a professional conference attendee for informal conversation and networking, takes place Friday, April 25 from 12:00pm-1:30pm. Please meet in the expo hall by 12:00pm so we can find you a partner. Students, this is a wonderful opportunity to interact with professionals and broaden your knowledge about the amazing field that is campus recreation!
Career Development and Networking Opportunities in the NZone
The saying is true: “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” Come get to know some awesome rec people in the NZone! Hone those networking skills in a fun, low-pressure environment with special opportunities to connect with specific niche groups.
Career development opportunities will also be available so stop by to learn from the best! The NZone is the place to be for mock interviews and live one-on-one resume reviews. Learn how to put your best foot forward when you’re ready to snag a new job in the field.

Student Lounge
Come hang out with current members of the Student Leadership Team! The student lounge will be located near the NZone. Students can hang out, network, and learn more about careers in campus recreation as well as about leadership opportunities within NIRSA.
