NIRSA 2025 Orlando

Information for Presenters

Thank you so much for your contribution to the 2025 NIRSA Conference & Campus Rec Expo! We love learning about all the things our members have been up to and really value hearing the stories and lessons that presenters share with our NIRSA community.

Call for proposals

We’re happy to open a call for proposals for the 2025 NIRSA Conference in Orlando, Florida. This signature event is rooted in helping professionals in higher education develop and maintain competencies in the field of campus recreation and wellbeing. Consider sharing your innovative practices and programs with colleagues in Orlando!

Before you submit a proposal, please note these requirements to speak at a NIRSA event:

  • Presenting at NIRSA events is a benefit of membership; therefore, all speakers are required to hold current NIRSA membership. You may submit a proposal if you’re not an active member, but if a speaker of an accepted proposal does not hold membership at the time of acceptance, they must obtain a membership status before the date of the event. If a speaker in your session is a nonmember, you may review the exemption policy on our presenter information and resources page.

  • You must agree to the terms of conditions of speaking at a NIRSA event. Clicking the link below to access the call for proposals will first route you to the speaker agreement form. Upon completing the form, you will click “Done” and be routed to the official proposal application portal.

  • All presenters must register for the conference. Registration for the 2025 NIRSA Conference & Campus Rec Expo will open around early December—check back here for more registration updates.

Strategic Framework & Topics

NIRSA has recently published a new strategic framework which influences our decision making regarding educational programming. Our top three priorities for 2024–2027 revolve around the professional pipeline, advocacy, and wellbeing.

How are submissions reviewed?

NIRSA recruits over 50 individuals to double blind review submissions. This means both presenter and reviewer identities are concealed. Additionally, the Programming Committee evaluates each submission for strong, actionable learning outcomes; they look for detailed descriptions in a well thought out presentation. Reviewers look for:

  1. Strength of Learning Objectives
  2. Relevance to Target Audience
  3. Relevance to Competency and Topic Area
  4. Program Design
  5. Ability to Inspire Growth or Action
  6. Overall Quality

Submission forms

For 50-minute general education sessions, panel presentations, two-hour workshops, and 90-minute roundtable discussions, submit your application by July 15, 2024.

  • General education sessions are your classic presentation format mainly consisting of a lecture with questions.
  • Roundtable discussions are conversational sessions in which a facilitator prompts topic-based discussions amongst attendees.
  • Workshops are designed with active learning in mind, prioritizing high audience engagement and tangible takeaways for participants.

Are you interested in hosting a full-day or half-day preconference workshop or seminar? Share your ideas with us and submit your application by July 31, 2024.

  • This year, we’re accepting a limited amount of preconference workshop/seminar proposals. Those that align with our new strategic framework with topics focused on the professional pipeline, advocacy, and wellbeing will be given priority.

You will be notified about the status of your proposal application in November 2024.
