New Attendee Sessions

Wednesday, April 23 at 3:00pm

Kick off your first NIRSA Conference by attending a new attendee info and networking session. This is a great place to connect with other first-time NIRSA conference attendees. There’s a session for first-time student attendees and one for first-time professional attendees. Even if you’ve attended conferences in the past, we encourage you to come to this session to learn how to navigate a NIRSA Annual Conference and thrive!

Campus Rec Expo

Not only is the Campus Rec Expo the place to see the latest and greatest in products and services for campus rec facilities, but it’s also an opportunity to build your list of industry partners. Exhibitors are eager to serve your campus community now and into the future. The expo also features many activities for you to build relationships with your peers while moving, learning, noshing, and having fun!

NZone

NIRSA’s Networking Zone (NZone) is a welcoming space to connect with peers, meet new friends, and expand your community. Throughout the conference, it will host networking events led by affinity groups and serve as a great spot to socialize. Check the conference app for event details and schedules. Join us in the NZone to enhance your experience and build lasting professional connections!

Regional Meetups

Plan to attend your regional meetup! This is a great way to learn about what’s happening in your region and network with colleagues from nearby schools. Check the conference app for your region’s meeting location.

Take a Student to Lunch

This cherished tradition, which pairs student participants with a professional conference attendee for informal conversation and networking, takes place Friday, April 25 from 12:00pm-1:30pm. Please meet in the expo hall by 12:00pm so we can find you a partner. Professionals, this is a great opportunity for you to interact with students and learn from them. Students, this is a wonderful opportunity to interact with professionals and broaden your knowledge about the amazing field of campus recreation!

Hone your interview skills! Volunteer interviewers with expertise in various types of programming will be available for mock interviews on Friday, April 25. Expect the process to take 15-30 minutes.

Resume Review

Perfect your resume! Our experts will spend 10-15 minutes walking through your resume with you and offering advice, or you can choose to drop off your resume for a written edit and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to pick up. Resume reviews will be available on Friday, April 25.

Job Fair

Get to know potential candidates and share information about your career opportunities at the Job Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 10:45am-12:15pm.

6’ undraped tables and two chairs will be provided. Hiring managers will be responsible for bringing a table drape, swag, and literature. Prices start at $85. Register for a job fair table using the main Conference registration form.

The NIRSA Career Services Center (CSC) provides a space for hiring managers and job seekers to network, share information about employment opportunities, and even interview onsite during the NIRSA Annual Conference.

All registered NIRSA Annual Conference attendees are eligible to utilize the NIRSA CSC as a job seeker at no additional charge.

Refine your resume and hone soft skills that will make you a more valuable candidate for any campus rec job – and network with potential employers – in the NZone! 

  • Network with employers: Attend a half-hour info session on Thursday and/or Friday, April 18-19, or stop by the Job Fair on Saturday, April 20. (More information will be available in the app.) 
  • Get some coaching: Meet with a leadership or career coach for a free half-hour session on a variety of topics on Friday, April 19. Learn more about career coaching and sign up for a free half-hour session.
  • Hone your interview skills: Volunteer interviewers with expertise in various types of programming will be available for mock interviews on Thursday, April 18. Expect the process to take 15-30 minutes. 
  • Perfect your resume: Our experts will spend 10-15 minutes walking through your resume with you and offering advice, or you can choose to drop off your resume for a written edit and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to pick up. Resume reviews will be available on Thursday, April 18. 
  • Look for jobs: Visit www.bluefishjobs.com from your laptop or mobile device to view open positions as well as employers who you’ll be able to network with on site. Bring copies of your resume with you or use the convention center business office to print your resume and cover letter as needed. 
  • Apply for jobs: hand your resume and cover letter to hiring managers at their table during the job fair or at their employer info session. Make sure to check individual job postings at www.bluefishjobs.com to see how else you can apply.

Meet with job seekers and advertise your current and upcoming openings at the NZone in person! 

Option 1: Employer Informational Session 

Presentation rooms with a projector and screen are available in half-hour time blocks with 15-minute breaks between. With a capacity of 118-128, employers can use these rooms to make presentations to job seekers about their open/upcoming positions, as well as accept resumes from attendees. Bring your laptop. Prices start at $90.

Option 2: Job Fair 

Get to know potential candidates and share information about your career opportunities at the Job Fair on Saturday, April 20, from 10:45am-12:15pm. 6’ x 18” undraped tables and two chairs are provided; bring your own table drape, swag, and literature. Prices start at $75. 

Anyone who plans to host an informational session or job fair table must be registered for the NIRSA Annual Conference.
